Relax Already!

Most of the time I feel like I need to be working on a project.  I was realizing that even sitting to feed Cora her bottle I felt I needed to be "doing" something. Today, I sat and gazed out the window watching the snow start to fall and the birds at the bird feeder.

Every time I looked away from her she would bounce with her legs and when I looked down at her she would smile with the bottle still in her mouth, as if to say "Hey, Grandma, look at me."  So cute!!

She is the cutest thing!!

Even sitting down to read a book feels somehow lazy. I am not creating something...  I don't take much time to plan, my day, or a meal or my business. Even taking the time to write a blog post, or visit and comment on my favorite blogs seems like a misuse of my time.  What is wrong with me!

I seriously think I need to relax!!

Here is an example of not taking the time to plan...I am participating in a Fat Quarter Swap and Challenge over at Ninth Street Notions.  I got my pack of 5 fat quarters earlier in the week and thought I would make a baby gift set.  The set would consist of 2 burp cloths, a paci clip, and a bib clip, and then a small bag (LL Bean style), to put it all in.

oh kind of over exposed but you get the picture

The burp cloths and clips were easy I have done them a few times, but the bag I had not made in a long time.  I was planning on using fusible fleece to give it body, but was so focused on getting the handles and pocket and bag bottom right that I forgot all about the fleece...so it is an add on...

I am not finished yet, and will post the whole package when I do finish, but first I need to relax a bit!!

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, PEACE, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law."  Galatians 5:22-23 (ESV)

Wishing you PEACE today!!

The Valentine reveal

I promised that I would reveal the whole picture of the gifts I made for my girls.  Well most of my girls, my daughter-in-law lives in Singapore so she will have to wait till Sarah comes to visit. (Wishing it was me taking it to her...)

I really did have fun making gifts, it is something I have always wanted to do.  So here goes.

The peek-a-boo

This bag is for Sarah, Mom of Sophia, and my oldest.

The bag was supposed to have one of each of the top fabrics on the side.  I had gotten half finished when I realized that was not going to be the case, oh well.  This is an Indigo Junction, Bella Bag, the small one, and it is plenty big.

Next up:

the peek-a-boo

This is for Alissa, the youngest, she is moving :-(  to Seattle, WA in the summer, thought this would fit the vibe of the west coast!!

The pattern is from Indigo Junction as well, this one is called Lunch Bunch.  This is the first time I have worked with PUL, a waterproof fabric that makes the bags food safe and machine washable.

Next:

These mittens were for Rachel, the middle daughter, who saw some at a craft fair and wanted them but not at the price the person was selling them at.  I found 4 sweaters that were 100% wool at Good will a few weeks ago, and some leftover fleece.  They were really easy to make and are very warm, just too bad we are having a mild winter.

Next the Grandgirls

Peek-a-boo

This is a doll/bear carrier from the book from Oliver and S, Little things to Sew.

Next:

peek-a-boo

Little Miss Cora,  I had the Onesie and appliqued the hearts and had just enough of the fabric to make this twirl skirt (my own design),  doesn't she look cute!!

Well there you have it.  Next week it is back to Organizing!!  I need to finish the kitchen and move on to my sewing room and my closet, oh and I am painting the bathroom too...busy!
Have a great weekend!

One of those days!!

Just didn't have it in me this morning to organize anything... It has been one of those days where I have bounced back and forth between tasks, never really finishing anything.  I feel really scattered, hope tomorrow will be better...

Babysat the lovely Miss Cora, she amazes me with her cuteness!!  She gives my day some purpose and direction!!

Went from on the tummy to...

on the back!!  And was delighted with herself!

Here is a peek at what sewing I have been up to this past several weeks.  These are all Valentines presents so the full reveal will be later in the week.

I have also made a number of Custom order Sewing Machine Covers in the last few weeks, here are a few.

I am working on some covers to put in the Etsy shop as ready to ship.  Stay tuned to see what those look like.  Also thinking about some new spring dresses for the shop.

Have a great day, perhaps I will feel like organizing tomorrow??
