Busy But Quiet

Whew, where did May go...I have been traveling more in the last month than I have in a few years combined...

I am limping along here on the business side, with an always increasing To Do List and finding my way in the computer end of the business.... I will just keep plugging along.

On the sewing side, I have been busy.  I had some dresses that I cut out last summer and never sewed.  They were quick and I think they turned out very cute!!

They will be listed in my Etsy shop tomorrow.

I have also branched out a bit.  My daughter Rachel has a play mat/quilt that she uses for her daughter Cora.  Very good idea.  Here is my first attempt at a play mat.

folds up and is held together with velcro

I sewed the three layers together and turned them right side out (birthed) turned out a bit wrinkled, next one will have a binding.   This will be in my Etsy Shop tomorrow as well.

There is more but I think I will save them for another post next week.
Have a great weekend.

A Life Well Lived

Many of you know that my brother has been battling cancer.  Yesterday he lost that battle.  I am back in Colorado for a few days,  The Memorial Service is Tuesday.

My brother was a great husband, dad, son, brother!!  Truly a Life Well Lived!  We will all miss him so much.

Mike at the end of April

Mike loved golf, this is the flag at the 8th hole, behind his house

Remember me?

It has been a long time since I have posted...  I spent a week out in Colorado with my brother and various members of our families.  Being together was an awesome time, but a very sad reason to get together...I hate Cancer!!!!!!!

Our families together

Back in New Hampshire, I have been busy getting ready for a Bazaar at a fundraiser for a local language school.  I will set up a table and see what happens.

My daughter Sarah (the blond in the photo above) is in Singapore with my son and daughter-in-law.  I made Danielle a diaper bag and changing pad, and some burp cloths.

The fabric is from the Parson Gray collection Curious Nature.  I love the more masculine prints, great for a boy with out being too cutesie.

The pattern is from Favorite Things Sewing,  The Mama Mia Diaper Bag, a fairly easy pattern to use.  I might change some things if I make it again.

I have made some other items for the Bazaar I will share these later in the week.

Have a great week.

Joy and Sadness

I realize it has been 10 days since I last posted.  I can tell by the counter that a few have visited, but, no comments... I do love feedback, so if you read please leave me a comment.  Just say HI or something.

My life has had some ups and downs this last weekend.  The good - Caleb Jonathan was born on the 15th of April.  Way over in Singapore.  His mommy had a "marathon"labor, 26 hours, she is a marathon runner so she likes the number 26.  Grandchild #3 and #4 is on the way.

He looks a bit like his daddy!

On the down side my brother is losing his battle with cancer, he is now on Hospice, I am headed out to Colorado to spend the week with everyone.  Sorry to be so blunt, but it sucks.

January 2012

I have completed my daughter-in-laws gifts, but the preview will have to wait till May, after she receives them!

Do you remember playing the game Concentration?  The Match Game?  We used to play it with Playing cards.  The Cottage Mama made a set a few months back, she calls it "I Spy".   I made a set for Sophia, now Rachel wants a set for her class at the Montessori  School where she teaches. They were fun to make, thanks to my Winding Ways quilt group, who helped me sew them last week.

One side the fabric is all the same

pairs of different fabrics

I think I will find a thiner batting, I used Warm and Natural, I have loads of scraps, I might like them better a bit thiner?  This is a great project for scraps, I used 5 inch squares and a 1/4 inch seam.

I made a custom order skirt, love the fabric.

Happy Sewing,

Spring Projects

I have been busy, right now between re-decorating the bathroom, and sewing projects there is lots to keep me busy!  Sewing is winning at the moment, but I must get to the bathroom...soon...

Babies are coming or will be very soon, a shower last week, I was not able to attend, but sent along a gift.
I love this fabric!!

Two burp cloths, a paci clip and a bib clip

I really love the bright chartreuse and gray!

My hair stylist is having a baby in June, a boy.  She is going to stay home with the little guy!!  Yeah for her!!  Bad for me, I need a new stylist!  She and her husband love music.

Working on some gifts for my daughter-in-law who is due this month!!  (Surprises coming Danielle, when Sarah comes to visit! )  Chris and Danielle live in Singapore, so I won't get to see my grandson till June :-(.  But very excited for him to come!!

More later in the week, I might even make progress on the bathroom!
